An American Modern: George Aarons, Sculptor

From the NSAA exhibition which opened on August 23rd, 2003. This was the first retrospective of this great American sculptor. The text is written by Rebecca Reynolds, Jean S. & Frederic A. Sharf Fellow of American Arts & Sculpture, Art of the Americas, Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. The catalog contains many archival photographs, many taken by the artist.

reated for the NSAA 1999 exhibition, this beautiful, full color catalog is the most definitive work to date on the works of this Cape Ann Master. Over a hundred color photos of paintings fill its 58 pages, plus a thoroughly researched essay on Mulhaupt by Kathleen M. Kienholz. A major reference for Mulhaupt collectors.

Also from a 1997 exhibition, this catalog features paintings and biographies of some of the NSAA's most distinguished members. Included are: Gordon Grant, Hugh Breckenridge, William Meyerowitz, N.A., Theresa Bernstien, Harry Aiken Vincent, Marguerite Pearson and many more.
Emile A. Gruppé: A Retrospective

 

This 1997 exhibition catalog features 48 pages of painting reproductions by Emile A. Gruppé, one of Cape Ann's most well-known artists. The biography written by NSAA artist Charles Movalli is also included.

This 2002 exhibition honored the work of sixteen inter-generational families of the NSAA including the Ahls, the Gruppés, the Millers, the Riccis, and the Curtises. There are 24 full color pages and biographies.

The catalog contains humorous first-person reminiscences by some current artist members on artists of the past, including Charles Movalli's recollections of Emile Gruppé, Tom Nicholas' memories of Frederick Mulhaupt, and Robert Bradshaw's commentary on William Meyerowitz and Theresa Bernstein. An added feature is a selection of charming essays by second generation artists writing about their artist parents: Caleb Stone on Don Stone, David Curtis on Roger Curtis, Andrea Menna Taylor on Andrew Menna, Robert Gruppé on Emile Gruppé and more.

Small Masterpieces: The Joy of Collecting


This 2001 exhibition featured small and miniature paintings by 40 NSAA artists including Aldro Hibbard, Anthony Thieme, Stowe Wengenroth, Antonio Cirino, Alfred Czerepak and more. The book features six full color panels and biographies of all artists exhibiting. A concise biographical resource of some of Cape Ann's most significant artists.

Text by NSAA historian Ted Tysver, this is the only known published source for biographical material on some of the featured artists.

Artists of the North Shore Arts Association: 80th Anniversary



In 2002 the NSAA celebrated its 80th anniversary making us one of the oldest, continuously operating art associations in the country. This beautiful, spiral bound black and white book features an example of the work and brief biographies of 150 contemporary NSAA artists.
